User data folder

Desktop app and Studio diagnostic files

Important

The user_data folder is a local folder stored on your computer by the TradeLocker desktop app and TradeLocker Studio.

It is mainly used for:

  • Local settings

  • Cached data

  • Logs

  • Desktop app configuration

  • Studio-related local state

It does not contain broker or prop firm backend records such as:

  • Account balances

  • Server-side executions

  • Official broker trade history

What the user data folder contains

The folder may include:

  • App preferences and settings

  • Cached platform data

  • Performance and crash logs

  • Studio configuration

  • Local layout information

  • Temporary desktop application data

These files help developers investigate machine-specific behavior.

When support may request it

Support may ask for the user_data folder when investigating concerns such as:

  • Desktop app not launching

  • App crashes or freezes

  • Studio not loading

  • Backtests freezing

  • Bots stopping unexpectedly

  • Login loops

  • Repeated sign-in prompts

  • Layouts or panels not saving

  • Charts behaving inconsistently

  • Persistent performance concerns

Recommended way to send user data

The easiest method is directly from the desktop app.

  1. Open the desktop app

  2. Go to:

    • Help

    • Send user data to support

  3. Wait for the upload to complete

  4. Copy the generated upload ID

  5. Send the upload ID to support

Example upload ID:
ff752f11-b7aa-4f65-b81a-1ad4264be421

This allows support to locate the uploaded diagnostic files internally.

Alternative method

If the in-app upload is unavailable, you can manually send the zipped user_data folder instead.

Why this is important

The logs and local configuration inside the user_data folder provide developers with technical insight into what is happening on that specific machine.

Without these files, reproducing and debugging desktop or Studio-specific concerns may be significantly harder.

Useful to know

The user_data folder is local to your device and is separate from broker-managed trading account data.
